Chemical Education Trust
Many New Zealand high schools are struggling to fund essential basic equipment for their chemistry laboratories. The NZIC, via the Chemical Education Trust, supports chemical education by making grants for the purchase of items of equipment. Examples are molecular models, glassware, pipettes, balances and grants towards larger equipment such as pH meters and spectrophotometers. Grants are made only to New Zealand schools.
In 2013 NZIC members donated $3435.
Grants totalling $4960 were made to Hastings Girl's High School, Buller High School, Tamatea High School, Ellesmere College, Taieri College for burettes; Mana College, Kelston Girl's College for pH meters; Bream Bay College for a colorimeter; Dannevirke High School for Experiment Kits, Awatapu College for Molecular Models; East Otago High School for balances; Marlborough Boy's College for UV lamp and Napier Girl's High School for Diji Pipettes.
NZIC members can include a donation when paying their annual NZIC subscription (in the same cheque/credit card/direct credit transaction). All donations will be receipted. Since the Trust is a registered charitable trust your donation will qualify for a tax rebate.
Donations can also be made direct to:
