ACES NZIC Early Career Researcher Award

Dr Cameron Weber

Dr Cameron Weber is a Senior Lecturer in Green Chemistry at the University of Auckland and is the Director of the Centre for Green Chemical Science. Dr Weber’s research focuses on developing alternative solvents and understanding solvent effects ranging from their influence on chemical reactivity through to the design of novel extraction and separation processes and he has authored more than 30 research publications in this field.
Dr Weber has made a significant contribution to the chemistry community in New Zealand. He has been the branch editor and is the current Chair of the NZIC Auckland Branch. During his tenure he has spearheaded the Chemistry Careers Evening - an annual event which began in 2020 as well as coordinating the seminar programme.
Dr Weber co-chaired the NZIC Conference 2022, the University of Auckland Innovation Showcase in 2020 and is currently the co-chair of the 8th Asia-Oceania Conference on Green and Sustainable Chemistry. Dr Weber is also a passionate believer in the importance of outreach and has actively participated in and organised outreach activities both at AUT and the University of Auckland.
