Statement on inclusion and diversity in NZIC

Tēnā koutou,

Many of you will be aware of the (now removed) pre-print paper in Angewandte Chemie which contained views and opinions that are completely against those of NZIC. We are a progressive society and believe that, whilst there is still a lot of work to do, equity, diversity and inclusivity lie at the heart of our values and underpin all our activities. The reaction of the global chemistry community to this paper has been swift and damning. NZIC has released the following statement standing alongside our sister society Royal Society of Chemistry, in conjunction with other major international chemical societies, outlining our commitment to eradicate discrimination and inequality in the chemical sciences:

I remind all members of our equity, diversity and inclusion policy which can be found here:

Today New Zealand moves to Level 1 and the eyes of the world are on us as a shining example of what sound leadership and listening to scientists can achieve. Let us all work together to continue that excellent momentum to promote equity, diversity and inclusivity in everything that we do as chemists and scientists.

Ngā mihi maioha
